2nd Annual Burnside Blowout
I asked Meer if he could do a flyer for this year's blowout and he came through like the Skate Army soldier he is.
The flyer was just finished a couple of days ago and I thought I would go ahead and put it up here. I will be updating the flyer with names of the companies that are down to support the park throughout the month, so keep checking back to see what's up.
This is first and foremost a fundraiser, with all proceeds going back into Burnside. This year will be a big year for Burnside. First, there are plans being worked on for installing lights. This is a big one and I have to give all the credit to Melissa Thaw, Burnside local and ripper. She has been totally on top of it and has really shown herself as a huge asset to the skatepark. Thanks Melissa. The other big plan is the Burnside Bridgehead Development going in on the skateparks doorstep, well if it had a door. The project is a huge development and the skatepark has been right in the middle of the entire process. The money we raise will help to add on to Burnside in the near future. What we build somewhat depends on the amount of money we have. I'm sure you get the idea. So make sure you start saving your pennies now. We will be having a huge raffle and also will be accepting donations.
You may be asking yourself, "What the hell's a nontest?" Well, it's basically an anti-contest, the only kind of event that will work at Burnside. No runs, no divisions, no qualifying, no judges, no winners, no losers, just sick skating. Skaters are naturally competitive, like it or not, so just the amount of quality skating will up the ante a few notches in the park.
There are still quite a few things that I need to get taken care of in the next month, so if your someone that wants to help out somehow, e-mail me at burnsideskatepark@gmail.com. Here's a just a few of the things I'm going to be needing. I'm going to be looking for a DJ to spin some records (has to have their own equipment) and/or a band or two. I'll be taking care of the noise permit and power. Also, if there are any industry reps out there reading this that I haven't contacted yet and want to help out, e-mail me and we'll get it set-up. One last thing that I'm going to be looking for, one or two big barrel BBQ's or something similar. There are a ton of other things I need to get lined up, but these are just a few that are most important.
That's it. Go skate!
