Burnside gets some attention
Tuesday, April 13
The Burnside skatepark has been around now for about 14 years. In the beginining it was what some would consider a squat. We just showed up one day and poured a little concrete bank. The rest is history.
Well, I received a PM at Sleestak, the best NW skateboard site ever, from a buddy who was going to get things back in order with the skatepark. I say back in order because for the past few years nobody has really been politically active concerning Burnside. There has been a lot of activity concerning new construction at other proposed skatepark sites, but Burnside had been somewhat left out. Quite a few things have changed in the neighborhood of the skatepark and we need to make sure that Burnside is a part of those changes.
I don't have much information right now concerning the skatepark, but I just wanted to let anyone who may be interested know that Burnside has not been forgotten. I'll update here if there is anything news worthy to report about the park, heck, I'll even report if there's nothing to report.
Talking about skateparks, it is getting pretty nice out these days and looks like the time is ripe to start treking outside of my neighborhood, Portland, and hitting up all of the epic parks in my state. I plan on taking family trips on the weekends and getting in as much quality skate time as possible. If you want to see what kind of parks are in Oregon, then you have to check out Skateoregon.com. This site has every skatepark in Oregon worth your time and gives a bit of info on each.
