Who is the "Silver Circle" graffiti artist?

Thursday, February 26
It's my grandpa! Can you believe it? I just got the news yesterday and could not stop laughing for almost an hour. If you knew my grandpa, you would understand. Check out Jack Bog's Blog for the story of the Silver Circle. The "Silver Circle", or as I like to call him, Grandpa, is one of the nicest, most sincere men you could meet. He has one small problem though, he sometimes doesn't know when to stop. This whole "Silver Circle" thing happened because he thought he was helping the neighborhood, which he was. According to the Graffiti Task Force, graffiti in the area had dropped considerably due to the fact that if graffiti artists painted a wall, they knew it wouldn't be long before a mysterious silver circle would be painted over the top of it.

It didn't start out as silver circles painted over graffiti though. Originally, he was paying out of his pocket for gallons of paint and painting entire walls to cover the graffiti. But paint is expensive and before long he had to find another way to take care of the graffiti problem. Cans of silver paint are much more affordable. I think in his mind, a silver circle ruined the painting so the artist would not come back again, therefore, stopping the graffiti. I don't think he even thought about what the silver circles looked like or how hard they may be to remove. He just wanted graffiti to stop.

He has almost become somewhat of an urban legend in the outer southeast side among those who do graffiti. I heard, as a rumor mind you, that the graffiti artists in the area were kind of afraid of the "Silver Circle'. It was thought that if you were caught by the "Silver Circle" that you would be beat up. I don't know if that's true, but it sure did add to my uncontrollable laughter last night. Anyhow, I just wanted to let people know that the "Silver Circle" is not some whack job, he's my grandpa.
