Coming Soon! There's a new skate video being released on April 1 from local pro photog, Dave Hupp, who also runs DLH Productions . He's been working on the film for about 3 years now and is finally in the home stretch. Hopefully I'll have a copy of the flyer up on this page in the next week or so, if not I'll at least have Release Party details.
You can check out the trailer for "Why Wouldn't You?" at Daves'weekendwarriorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00962093998191693668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6220112.post-7309692894160756632007-09-28T09:39:00.000-07:002007-09-28T09:56:23.891-07:00No Skating Zone! There have been a few changes at Burnside recently concerning our relationship with the neighboring businesses and I thought that since Dave Hupp of DLH Productions was kind enough to send me photos of the most blatant of the bunch, I had to post them. The first one is pretty self-explanatory.

Pole JamI was browsing Youtube the other day and came across this video of someone doing the short-lived pole jam at Burnside. This was a punisher. It was short lived because it was built on our neighbors property. I guess they weren't as into it as we were. Really, it all just came down to liability and being good neighbors.

There has been a sign hanging at the park for the past 13 years and this is the first time it has been updated. The new sign gives a quick history of the park and then a few simple rules.
Here's what the sign says:"Welcome to the Burnside Skateboard Park. The Burnside Skateboard Park is a historical park that was started in 1990 by weekendwarriorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00962093998191693668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6220112.post-1117745846636695352005-06-02T13:48:00.000-07:002005-09-02T16:30:34.530-07:00The CageI've been meaning to post this for the past couple of weeks, but I hadn't downloaded my camara until just last night. Anyhow, here are a few pics of the new cage that Red, Sage, Snowman, Coy (aka Germ), and a few others built.
The cage surrounds the dumpster and the two porta-potties that the parks dept. supplies for the park. Over the years the parks dept. has had to replace the portables weekendwarriorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00962093998191693668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6220112.post-1117652990029670402005-06-01T12:05:00.000-07:002005-06-01T12:09:50.033-07:00Oregon Trifecta 2005I reported a few months ago that the Oregon Trifecta may be coming to Burnside. Well, it's now been changed to Newberg. I'll give more details soon, but I just wanted to get this bit of info out there. And make sure you come back often as I have a whole slew of updates to bring you in the coming weeks now that winter has passed and the weather is becoming more cooperative.

OPUS NW has won the bid for the Burnside bridgehead project. There is quite a bit of local outcry concerning this decision because OPUS was not the public's choice, but it was never the public's choice in the first place, it was the PDC's. I won't go into all of the politics of the decision because that is not the concern of the skatepark. What is our concern is that the weekendwarriorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00962093998191693668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6220112.post-1113846364628518872005-04-18T10:23:00.000-07:002005-04-18T10:46:04.630-07:00Down To The WireWell, after nearly a year, the Burnside bridgehead development is coming to a head. About a week ago the Evaluation Committee released their recommendation that the Beam Development team should be granted the project. Of course, it is only a recommendation and the PDC Commission has the final say. The public has one more chance to testify before the PDC Commission before the final decision is weekendwarriorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00962093998191693668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6220112.post-1112726079849022772005-04-05T11:29:00.000-07:002005-04-05T11:34:39.850-07:00Burnsideskatepark.org is dead (for now)I had been working on a new site for our new web address, but due to some internal problems, it has been halted. Maybe in the future we will get it going on, but for now this will continue to be the home of Burnside's website.
I know there haven't been a lot of updates recently, but there really hasn't been a whole heck of a lot going on. I could write about how the park was wet due to rain butweekendwarriorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00962093998191693668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6220112.post-1111085922477003842005-03-17T10:54:00.000-08:002005-04-05T11:28:27.816-07:00Early Burnside Photos FoundMy wife was cleaning up our desk the other day and came across a bunch of really early Burnside photos. I haven't seen these in years and am amazed at how much the area has changed in the past 14 years. When you look at the photos, if you have ever been to Burnside, you will notice the difference right away. If not, trust me, there are no open fields around here anymore.I scanned the photos last weekendwarriorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00962093998191693668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6220112.post-1110827317642222642005-03-14T10:50:00.000-08:002005-03-14T11:08:37.646-08:00Slam City JamFor those of you who don't know, the Slam City Jam is a yearly pro contest that is held in Vancouver, BC and attracts the best skaters from around the world. It also brings a lot of great skaters through Portland on their trek north which makes for some good sessions at the local parks. The Slam City Jam has historically been held in or around May, but due to a change in organizers, the date has weekendwarriorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00962093998191693668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6220112.post-1108767700607303702005-02-18T14:40:00.000-08:002005-02-18T15:05:28.876-08:00Breaking NewsO.K., I'm not sure how breaking the news is, but I just found out about it, so it's news to me.
